BACH'S LUTE SUITES
SOLO RECITAL BY JADRAN DUNCUMB
As an early music specialist, ensemble leader and lute soloist, Jadran Duncumb enjoys a significant international career. His lute repertoire spans from the 16th century to Mozart's time and the end of the 18th century, with Bach's suites for 13-course baroque lute as the central repertoire. This is a touchstone for any professional performer and Jadran has recorded Bach's complete lute works over two recordings. Both releases were awarded ‘Diapasons D’Or’ by the renowned French magazine Diapason, in which Wissam Feuillet remarked, “The result is astounding: these works rarely sounded so good. [...] What a sense of dynamics, what a variety of articulations! The reading of Duncumb seems guided by a consummate art of rhetoric which gives full scope to the counterpoint. [...] The performer invites us to rediscover the possibilities of the baroque lute. Fascinating.” The second was also awarded a double five star review in BBC Music Magazine.
Jadran offers several concert programs with solo lute music.
